6/1/2000 - Dr. Alan W. Brown Wins "Best Paper Of The Session" Award At ASCRS
Dr. Alan W. Brown of Surgical Eye Care, P.A., won the "Best Paper of the Session Award" for his talk on the "Modular Speculum" during the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery's annual Symposium in Boston, Massachussetts. This year's meeting attracted about 10,000 eye surgeons from around the world to share and teach the latest ideas in refractive eye surgery.
Dr. Brown previously won this award in 1994 for introducing a new means to illuminate the eye during surgery. This year his paper was presented during the "new instrumentation session" and it explained the use of his two newest patented instruments, the insertion forceps and the pocket starter.
Many American companies train doctors in new surgical procedures overseas, so that once the FDA approves the procedure, doctors can begin treating patients immediately. Dr. Brown was asked to be one of the investigators for this new technology once the FDA trials start.
Dr. Brown holds seven patents for a variety of ophthalmic surgical instruments, which are now used by surgeons all over the world.
